ajittr AN ADMISSION BY THE ' PREMIER.
[Special to “Times.”]
WELLINGTON, October 8
In tho House of Representatives today Mr. Wilford asked tlie Premier whether 110 would postpone for this session tlie inclusion of any provisions in tlie Public Service Superannuation Bill dealing with the Police Provident Fund in order that tlie proposed alterations of tlie law may bo fully considered by all tlio police officers throughout the Dominion? Sir Joseph Ward, in reply, said, “I have no desire to press the police branch of tlie Public Service into- a general scheme, and tlie Bill before the House was] in this, respect, voluntary. Tho present police fund is not on a sound basis, and ill.tho interests of the police it would be incomparably stronger if merged with the main superannuation scheme. I will, however, ask tho House to drop tho police clauses so that they may be entirely considered.” Mr. Hanan commented on the fact that on the statement of the Premier, tlie police fund was not on a sound basis. That would mean coining 011 tile colony for further contributionsIt showed that they should exercise great care in regard to superannuation funds.
