MONTHLY MEETING

A largely-attended meeting of the Gisborne No-license League .was held in St. Andrew’s Schoolroom last evening; the ltev. h\ W. Chattel-ton presiding. The following resolution was carried—“ That the No-liccnse ' League wishes it to- be clearly understood that, it does not identify itself with any political candidate, and reaffirms its .resolution to this elfect passed on former occasions.” Scrutineers were appointed to attend at the polling booths on election day. . \ ; Campaign posters and literature were given to members for posting up in' public places and for distribution.

It was decided to write' to Mr. A. J. Black, of Auckland, stating that the League expected him back and asking what date would be convenient for him to revisit Gisborne. A vote of appreciation was passed to the ltev. Mr. Hammond and the Alliance sending him, for the good services he had done in Gisborne. A letter was received from Mr. F. Shiner, secretary of the Ashburton No-license League, enclosing a pamphlet contradicting statements published to the effect that Ashburton was not progressing under no-licensc.
