NORTHERN ASSOCIATION’S MEETING.

WELLINGTON, Oct. 13. The annual meeting of the Northern Bowling Association of New Zealand was held to-night. The report showed that the number of affiliated clubs is 44. The champion fours tournament would be held in Nanier next January. A,returnvisit from Australian clubs was expected early next year. Receipts for the year totalled £267, expenditure £242. “The following officers were elected: President: Mr J. C. McVav (N apier) ; vice-president, Colonel Collins (Wellington) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. “i I Mentiplay (Wellington) ; auditor, Mr. H. F. Allen (Wellington). At a meeting of the Council a letter from the Gisborne Club was considered asking if a regulation could be made allowing members to play with both feet on the mat, tills being opposed to the Association’s rules.—lt was decided that such a rule could be made for members, but: could not be cntorced on visitors. , . It was decided that the Napier tournament open on Monday, January Hth, and twenty-one rinks will be available. „ „ . , , Representatives of all clubs in the district are to be asked to 30111 in a deputation to the Prime Minister asking relief from payment of municipal rates. A committee was appointed to go into the question of the cost of the tournaments, owing to an 'Auckland communication which suggested the possibility of a number of northern .clubs seceding from the Association.
