REMOVAL OF HEADQUARTERS

WELLINGTON, Oct. 16

The Wellington Ur .inch of the Amateur Athletic Association recently nominated seven local men -for seats on the Council of the Association, with the avowed object of getting the headquarters of the Association removed here, on account of the dissatisfaction said to be expressed with the Christchurch control. The Council refused to accept these nominations on tlie ground that nono hut residents of Christchurch aro eligible to the Council. This decision, it is contended, is ultra vires, and a meeting will be held this evening to discuss it. DUNEDIN, Oct, 16. —-At-t-hc annual meeting of the Otago centre of the New Zealand Amhteur Athletic Association last night, a resolution was unanimously passed in favor of the removal of the headquarters of tho Association to Wellington. It-was decided to write to the Council, stating that the centre had been informed that ithe Council had rejected the Otago nominations -for the Council (Wellington, gentlemen). iand asking under what -rule this had been done. The chairman sii<l it -was rather soon to . talk of secession, but lie would be prepared to go thait length -if they did not get satisfaction -from the Council. A DUNEDIN CONFERENCE. A conference of the Caledonian Society, New Zealand Athletic Union, and Pipe ••Dancers’ Association was held .last nigliit to consider the -best means of coming to a mutual-arrange-ment between the new-ly-forincd Pipe Dancers’ Association-and the Caledonian Society in regard to their rules. The question at issue was a matter of dealing -with the pipers and dancers disqualified for competing at the Exhibition -meeting. It -was deckled that the operation of the rules of tlie- Pipe Dances Association he suspended till after the annual meeting of the New Zealand Athletic Union, -and that another . conference he held in Dunedin. The Gaines -and Grounds Committeo of the Caledonian Society has agreed to take over the Athletic 'Union championships this year.
