The President of the- Redifs, in Turkey, is mobilising an Anatolian army corps, with a view to the demands made by Bulgaria in regard to the Oriental railway.

The Viennese press angrily protest against the idea of compensation to' Servia and Montenegro. The majority of the papers suggest that Austria should not be represented at-the conference of Powers unless the compensation clause is omitted. Austria is massing troops close to the southern frontier of Montenegro.

While Constantinople telegrams declare that the reported mobilisation of troops was unfounded, probably' arising out of an exchange of troops between Constantinople and Adrianople, the Turkish Ambassador at Paris states that the mobilisation was true up to Saturday morning. It was abandoned on Saturday night, after Bulgaria had given assurances producing a- marked amelioration in the situation in the interests of peace.

Reuter at Constantinople reports that Tewfi'k Pasha informed the editor of the newspaper ‘•Tailin’’ that Turkey desired a conference to consider the independence of Bulgaria, the Austrian- annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ottoman public debt iand the integrity of the Ottoman Empire. Turkey excluded the question of Crete. Tewfik added that the retrocession of Novibazar was conditional on- neither Servia nor Montenegro obtaining territorial compensation there. Austria guaranteed Turkey’s possession of Novibazar. CONSTANTINOPLE EXCA-TED. THE FATE OF THE CONFERENCE United Press Association, Copyright (Received Oct. 19, 10.50 p.m.) , LONDON, Oct. 19. . An. unauthenticated version of the programme for the proposed conference, which lias been published in Paris, has caused ail excited and bitter feeling in Constantinople. Owipg to the impression that. Sir Edward Grey’s note lias sufficiently safeguarded Turkish interests, the Turks are disposed to turn to Germany.
, The “Times” declares that the fate of the conference seems really to rest with the decision of Austria-Hungary and Germany'.
