NELSON, Oct. 21

In connection with the Baptist conference yesterday was devoted to the Missionary Society of that church. Reports were received from the l»*'v. John Table, Dr. -North, Mrs. Do Carteret, -Misses Bcckinsalc, and .Gaiusfold, alio are laboring in the mission fields. A conversazione, held in the afternoon, was numerously attended. The Rev. Alfred North presided. A stirring address was given as to tho .aspects of the society. Last year’s revenue amounted to £2600, leaving a credit balance of £IBO. In the afternoon a £SOO gift was announced as a memorial t'o a- departed daughter. In the evening- a mission was held,’ the church being crowded. Mr. George presided' Speeches were made by Miss Gainsford, Revs. Hays and Knowles, and Mr. Kimpton. .The Baptist (Conference closed at 10 this evening. The income and expenditure of the Missionary Society was estimated at £1836. A committee was set up, in conjunction with the Young People’s Committee,, to consider the state of (Bible classes. A resolution, was passed welcoming the ißev. F. iB. (Mover’s visit, to the Dominion. 'The following allocations were mado for Home Mission work : Waihi £25, AVhangirei £4O, Grange Road £SO, Epsom £25, Guinficlds £-10, Gisborne £6O, Napier £25, Feilding £6O, Petone £35, Central North Mam Trunk line £75, Ashburton £ls, Oxford £2O, ‘Linwood and t J.viccarton £4O, Kaiapoi and Rangiora £3O, Mornington £6O, Owaka £3O, 'North Invercargill £25, total £6oo. At the .afternoon meeting tho members or the Conference instituted a fund and promises were given wiping out last year’s deficiency of £l3O. The animal conference sermon was preached by the Rev. A. G. Wilson, after which a" communion service was celebrated.
