TREASURY BILLS.
AN INCORRECT MESSAGE
[Press Association.]
CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 21
The following paragraph appears in the “Press”: “A cable message was published by us on Saturday stating that £1,000,000 worth of Now Zealand bills of one year’s currency had begun to be placed on the London market on a basis of about 31 per cent. We printed the message as it came, hut expressed the belief that a mistake had been made in transmission. Wo referred the matter to tho Premier, who very courteously replied as follows: “I do not understand the cable myself. No Treasury bills of any kind have, been authorised t 0 he used, nor has any authority for £1,000,000 been given by me. lam enquiring into the matter.’ ”
