CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 21. “What about the duty on hoots?” Mr. W. W. Tanner, ALP., was asked last evening at his meeting. “The boot duty has praetieally wiped out the importation of American boots into this country,” -he replied. “It has saved a prominent New Zealand industry. It was intended as a protection duty and it has served its purpose.”
