The, hearing of the cases against the suffragists continued at Bow Street Court.
Miss Christabel Pankhurst elicited from Mr;; "Lloyd-George that he was present at the Trafalgar Square meeting on the 11th. Mr. Lloyd-George, in hi® evidence, said he considered the demonstrations formidable, but he thought the suffragists’ appeal to the public to rush the House of Commons was very serious.
Mr Herbert Gladstone, in examination, said he thought that “rushing the House of Commons” meant the employment of force. The result of the suffragists’ demonstration against the House of Commons was 37 arrests and 40 watches and purses stolen. A
Defendants insisted that Liberal statesmen had encouraged the suffragists to adopt the line of action they had followed. The hearing was further adjourned.
