MARRIED AC SINGLE
Teams representing married and single men met on the Domain yesterday in an all-day match. The weather in the morning was all that could be desired, but the rain that fell in the afternoon made the closing stages rather unpleasant. The single -men were captained by il. Babb, while Hallamore led the married men, who, ■after an interesting and useful game proved the victors. J. II• AAack played a free innings of o 4 for the single men, and Cary and Daniell both showed good form for the benedicts. The following are the'scores: —

MOTU v. GISBORNE XI. The team of cricketers who are visiting Motu under the auspices of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association tried conclusions with tho country eleven yesterday. The town players were met at Te Karaka and- driven in a five-horse drag, kindly provided by Mr. AV. D. S. MacDonald, to that gentleman’s residence, where some hours were spent, and lunch and afternoon tea partaken of. The Motu cricketers hospitably entertained the visiters, and a social was given in their honor last night. The match was at an interesting stage when heavy rain compelled the abandonment of play, honors being about even. AV. Reed captained the Motu eleven, and the visitors were led by AV. Gibson.
