AVELLINGTON, Nov. 20. Speaking to a “Post’ 5 representative to-day, the Hon. R. McNab said : “Tho position lias otiot found mo with nothing to do. There is now an opportunity, aintil tlio next call of my party for a candidate, to proceed and put well forward, if not complete, the literary work I have been engaged in for so many years.” ‘‘You havo no idea of giving up political life?” “None whatever,” replied Mr. McNab. “The conclusion of the contest at Mataura has loft a. most friendly relationship between myself and my successor, and I that relationship will be sufficiently infectious amongst my suppoitcrs that Mr. Afklerson will have_ every reason to feel that they u ill take ad vantage of his services without bearing in mind any ill-will through last. Tuesday’s fioht. . That is my wish, and I think that it will be gratified.”
