A special meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council was held yesterday morning to meet ilossrs Hstriciv and BignelL representing the Spiral Steel Pipe Company, of "Wanganui. contractors for the waterworks.. The unsatisfactory position of tne contract since the damage was. done to the pipe line by flood in April last A\as discussed at length, and the re-presentatiA-es of tin* contracting company slated that the work would be continued when fresh, plans, rendered necessary by the alteration in the configuration of the country, were supplied. The Council Avoukl not agree to any alteration of the terms of the original contract, and the discussion ay as adjourned until tlie evening. On the representatives again waiting on the Council, the terms of the original contract- Ay 1 re adhered to. and the contractors agreed to continue their Avork. Avithout any interruption of the ivater supply.
