At Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday afternoon, Mr. J. Hackett was married to Miss Sevina Cooper, only daughter of Mr. J. Cooper, of Gisborne. The vicar, the Rev. L. Dawson Thomas, officiated, and after the ceremony a large number of guests were entertained iat the residence of the bride’s parents. A Press Association telegram from \ Dunedin states that Mr. J. McEnnis, S.M. for the Mt. Ida district, will retire from the Magistracy on March 21st next. He has been in the public service for 4G years. He served in the police force for ten years, was clerk of the Magistrate’s Court in Westland for 27 years, and was appointed Magistrate in 1900.
