The Premier tabled Lord Crewe's despatch in reference to the appointment of State Governors. He says that the suggestion that the appointments should he made Lynn Australian citizens involves a far-reaching change which could not, he considered, he entertained in any case unless it applied to all Australian States, not one alone, and until the public by petition demonstrated overwhelmingly m its favor. Ho adds that no doubtmuch can ho said in favor of the Canadian system, under which 1 the Central Government anoints the Provincial Governors.
