THE HOSPITAL SOCIAL.

It ,i s .anticipated that there will bo a largo ■attendance at the annual social to be (held on Monday night in the Garrison Hall .in aid of the Hospital funds. Tho fjoeial has been delayed this year on account of the difficulty in obtaining a suitable place an which to hold it. Dancing is to begin, at 8 p.m., and the Federal Band has been secured for the occasion. A .special feature will be the presence of Vita Bros.’ string band, consisting of six instruments, including the harp, which will play the music for some of the ounces. On Tuesday night a children’s social in aid of the Hospital funds is to be held, also in the Garrison Hall. The Federal Baud will contribute music. Wootton’s orchestra will play the music for the “extras” on both nights. The 'ladies’ committee have canvassed the town and many of the countx-y villages, and have met with very generous support. They have over £3O ixi cash, besides promises of six hams 'and' two boxes of butter, for use in making sandwiches on Monday morning. Besides these, many ladies have promised to give ox tongues, sausage rolls, cakes, cream puffs, and other .delicacies, the hotelkeepers ,Imve promised ample sujxplies of clax-et cup, and the aerated water factories are giving many dozens of •aeirated waters, so tlmt there will bo no lack of good tilings for the supper. As the hall as so capacious and has such an excellent dancing floor, the social is expected this year to bo an- unqualified success. Last year’s social, together with tlio Government grant on the proceeds, (added no less than £404 to the Hospital funds, and it is hoped that that sum may bo cxceeeded this year.
