CRICKET.
CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION
The championship matches were continued on Saturday. To Rau and Wanderers met at the Domain, and United trying conclusions with Taruheru at the Freezing Works. The day was an ideal one for cricket, and some interesting play resulted.
UNITED v. TARUHERU. The visitors batted first, and from the commencement runs came rapidly, the last wicket falling with the total at 122. Taruheru then went in, and at call of time had lost nine wickets for 104, thus requiring 19 runs to beat United’s first innings total. For United, Manning played nice cricket for his runs, and Hallamore, Bowman, and Lang also hatted well. Manning howled in excellent fashion right through the innings. For Taruheru, Sharple s played a forceful innings, and Dillon and Minnis also obtained double figures. The following are the scores: —

Te Ran won the toss and batted first, and play was very slow, tlie r innings closing at 5 o’clock for 97 runs. rMoOre (31) and Pine (25) played careful cricket, and Scholium (18) hit out freely. Wanderers, at call of time,, had made 72 for 7 wickets. Babb (19) played well. Young .and Glennie for Wanderers, and-Cary and .Featon for Te Rau bowled' well. The following 'are the scores:— ~

The fourth round of the Auckland Cricket Association’s senior grade championship was commenced yesterday, and was characterised by several fine batting performances. Those of Sale (120 and AYright (120) being notable examples. The partnership of these two giving Parnell a total ol 249 for the first wicket. The following are the details _of play: —University, playing against City, made 205 for the first innings (Fawcett 43, Gray 39 not out). City has lost two wickets for 42. Ponsonby’s first innings against Eden Colts realised 209 (Hemus 84 not out, Francis 51). The Colts made 38 for two wickets. _ Parnell against Grafton made 337 for three wickets (Sale 120, Wright- 120, and Hutchings 46 not out). • North Shore against Eden A made 200 lor the first innings (Kalleiider 79, Howden 44). - Another round in the first .grade matches commenced to-day. The results were: —Christchurch (220) !v. Riccarton '(7O for 4 wickets). East Christchurch (158) v. Linwood (147 for 4 wickets). Sydenham (189) v. St. Albans (81 for 5 wickets).

DUNEDIN. Nov. 29
The cricket matches were continued yesterday in showery weather. Shortly before 5 o'clock steady rain set in and put a stop to play. Carisbrook B met Opoho, and made 112 for 4 wickets (Austen 54). Grange, playing against Carisbrook A, compiled 85 for 2 wickets (Ogg 44). Albion met Dunedin, and lost 7 wickets for 120.
