A BAD ROAD.
[To the Editoe.] Sir The local Council seems to have’forgotten that such a place as Harris Street is still the borough. The footpath ou the Haiti Hill end of Harris Street is m a perfectly shocking condition, and atter the recent rain has sunk in one particular place so as to be a danger to pedestrian traffic. A Council that os so apathetic ' and dilatory deserves no consideration, and the ratepayers ot Gisborne should look to the matter and see that live men are put in as their representatives, and not those suffering from mummification. The particular portion of Harris Street referred to has long been in a state or disrepair, and during the past winter was almost impassable, lossiblv our Council will wake to the condition of affairs when a serious accident has occurred, and will, then hasten to remedy ■whsrt should liave been done months ago. Why is not one side of the road asphalted? 'Surely the number of houses and residents are sufficient to warrant such an expenditure. At the present time those who make use of go-carts cannot get into town for the simple reason that the roadwav,, is a foot deep in sand, and the footpath is fast disappearing into a gully, and will need a bridge • ally. Wake up, Councillors! Do vour duty to those who have placed you amongst the City’ Fathers!—l aim etc., -HARRIS STREET.”
