THE SOUTHLAND SHOW

INVERCARGILL, Dec. 9
People’s Day at the Southland A. and P. Association’s show was held in splendid weather conditions to-day, except that a light rain fell during the latter part of the afternoon. The railway bookings to town were much iii excess of those last show day, and the takings at the ground were a record. There were fine fields in draughts and light horses, in which Southland breeders hold their own. The Premier and Justice Williams were present, and made speeches at the luncheon.
METROPOLITAN SHOW
CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 9. The receipts at tho Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s ‘metropolitan show last month totalled £2950 4s 2d, and tho expenditure £I9BO 18s Id, leaving a credit balance of £919 6s’id,
