Yesterday morning broke dully, and there were not wanting those who prophesied a heavy downpour. Up till midday the air was very sultry, and shortly after thVit hour mm commenced to fail, and continued almost incessantly until atfter midnight. The wind in the morning was blowing strongly from the north-east and in the afternoon it veered round to westerly ,and finally to south, from which quarter it (blew with considerable force in the eamly _ evening. There was la nasty sea running in the J3ay, and as a consequence of this and the rain loading operations on the s s Mimiro were consider*tbly hampered*. * The .schooner Awanui was due to leave the .Bay for Tologa Bay to load wool, but .again the adverse weather prevailed, and she was compelled to return to port. After midnight the rain ceased, and with the wind a few points further to the westward there was every indication of the storm coming to an end.
