At Dinizulu’s trial a chief, Cahejana, under cross-examination, identified a gun which Dinizulu gave him and Mayetana, with orders to kill Mr Gence. A native doctor at Usuta kraal stated that Mayetana shot Mr. Gence.

At Dinizulu’s trial Mr. Freeman, clerk to Mr. Armstrong, Zululand magistrate, stated that after a conversation between Dinizulu and Mr. Armstrong, he overheard Dinizulu instruct the natives to kill Mr. Armstrong. Messrt Freeman and Armstrong galloped away and escaped.-^
