AUCKLAND,, Dec. 17
The. steamer Star of New Zealand, which arrived from Sydney this morning, from the commencement of the voyage on December lltli experienced a heavy gale. On December 13 there was a "south-west gale of hurricane force and mountainous sea. The decks were swept of all movable objects, including forty tons of coal. Articles of light construction Avere smashed to pieces. The saloon and cabins were flooded. The gale continued with little abatement until the •steamer reached the Three Kings.
