FIRE AT WELLINGTON

WELLINGTON, Dec. 22
A fire took place last night in premises at Newton, owned by Martin Kennedy, and occupied by C. H. Harris and Co.’s furniture factory and warehouse. A portion of the first floor was uiuc-li damaged, -and tho stock suffered from fire and water. 'The insurances were: Building, £2OO in the United Office; contents, £I2OO in the Atlas Office and' £3OO in the Alliance.
DROWNED IN A TANK
WELLINGTON, Dec. 22
About ten o’clock this morning a child named William Wilson, -aged three years, son of Mr F. W. Wilson of Feilding, was -drowned at Seatoun through falling into a concrete tank at the residence of Mr William H. Green, the child’s grandfather.
THEFTS AT MASTERTON—POLICE COURT PROCEEDINGS.
MAiSTMRTON, Dec. 22. Three men, Edward Richard Black, Charles Henderson and Onirigo Tolley were charged at the Police Court today with stealing a number of articles from various . residents in Masterton and Carterton. Henderson and Tolley pleaded guilty and were remanded to the Supreme Court for sentence. Black was committed for trial to the Supreme Court.
