.Mr A. T. Ngat-a, M.P., was a passenger from Wellington yesterday morning and left for his home. at Kakariki. His health has much improved since lie underwent an operation at Auckland.
Major Holdaway, of tlie Salvation Army, is expected to arrive in Gisborne on Wednesday’ next to conduct tlie New Year services.
A Wellington telegram from our own correspondent states that the Government have appointed Messrs John William Joynt and Edward Tregear to he members of the Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute,
