This afternoon an election petition was lodged with the returning-officer for Dunedin North by Messrs Solomon, Gascoigne and Hay, solicitors for Mr A. It. Barclay. The petition prays that the present declaration as to the result of the poll should be set aside and that Mr (Barclay should be declared elected member or, in the alternative, that a new election should bo held;
