SHOOTING COMPETITIONS

' WELLINGTON, Dec. 23

In the cadet shooting competitions under the auspices of the xOudcation Department the Government shield for the North Island No. 1 Company, with the fine score of 798 out of a possible 840. This company won the same shield last year with a score of 757. The shield for the South Island was won by the North East Valley school (Dunedin), whose score was 724. East year Oamaru North won with a score of 705. The ‘‘Weekly Press” shield for the North Island was again won by Woodville No. 1 Company, the score being 766. Onehunga was again second with 573. Waimate again won the “P’tss” shield for the South Island with a score of 725. Geraldine as second with a score of 654.
