GISBORNE FIRE BRIGADE.

A (SUCCESSFUL DEMONSTRATION. A successful demonstration- of the efficiency of the local Fire Brigade was given on Saturday morning, when several competitions were liefd iii Palmerston-road, in the vicinity of the Brigade Station. The compe-~ tit-ions were held with a view to the selection of a team to do battle for the honor of the district at the United Fire Brigades Association's annual demonstration to be held at the Auckland Domain in March, i-est. The local Brigade is fortunate in possessing at present some exceptionally smart- men in tile dirfeunt branches of the work, and it is felt by those connected with the Brigade that the final selection will, if not actually winning the coveted championship, at least worthily uphold the well-deserved reputation for efficiency that the Gisborne corps holds in other parts of the Dominion.
