BOWLING.

GISBORNE CLUB

Bowling was carried on all day on Saturday on the green of 'the 'Gisborne Club, whereon the members of the club mustered in strong force. The green was in good order, considering the soaking it received 'from the rains of the last few days. Several games in the matches for the champion cup and the handicap singles were played, in addition to a large number of practice games. In connection with the latter, special interest was aroused in a game between a team which intended to proceed to Napier to compete for the citizens’ trophies, and the team chosen to 'represent the club in the Napier tournament. The former team consisted of Kyme, J. H. Martin, Robertson, and Simson. In the representative team Witty played as substitute for F. J. Martin. In the afternoon the two rinks played an exciting and keenly contested match. The score was even, 24 all, on the 21st head, and on the additional head Simson gained a couple of points and won the game. The results of the play during the holiday were as follows: Champion Cup. The matches m the Handicap Pairs and Bennet Cup Singles were continued, some good games ensuing. . Afternoon tea was provided on Boxing Day by Mrs.. L. McConnell, and was much appreciated.
