JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 27
R. E. Walker, a Canadian, covered 100 yards at Johannesburg in 9 2-ssee/and 120 yards in 11 2-osce. [R. E. Walker is the athlete who won the 100 metres sprint race at the last Olympic games, held recently in London.]
THE SOUTHLAND CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. RECORD ENTRIES FOR SI’ORTS. [Press Association.] i INVERCARGILL, Djee. 28. Much interest is taken locally in the entries for the Southland Caledonian Society’s New Year sports, on account of its position as a disqualified society by'the New Zealand Athletic Union and the Sports Federation. Entries closed to-night, and there is a record entry for all classes of events with the exception of quoits. Last year there were 804 entries, and this year 341 have been received. Amongst the pedestrians entered is L. C. McLachlan.
