WELLINGTON.
A REMINISCENCE OF OLD WELLINGTON.
THE LABOR OUTLOOK.
[Special to “Times.”]
. . WELLINGTON, Jan. 1. For the twe7ve months just closed, the Wellington Customs revenue was £807,*769.' For the correspond ing previous twelve months it was £822,669. The beer duty is £14,527, as against £14,280. . “Those who remember old Wellington,” says the “Post,” “when the tide used to flow up to Lambton Quay, will be interested to learn that excavations ta the Site of Martin’s fountain are down on the original sea sand. The old beach has been uncovered, and the water rises and falls with the* tide, as it did when, there were no- banks or insurance offices on the Quay as now.” , The Hon. J. A. Millar thinks the labor outlook for the coming year is satisfactory, and that labor troubles will be reduced to a minimum. Ho says there are not many clouds on the horizon. There is some difficulty among the miners on the West Coast, but lie. believes . that will be fixed up.
