WAIROA. Jan. 4. There has been Quite a large number of Gisborne people in Wairoa during the last 'few days and among those .staying iat Oman’s Hotel are Mr. and Miss Coleman, Mr. J. H. Martin and four ladies, Misses It. Notaii, Tombleson, and Smith. 1 Most of the rooms at the hotels and boarding-houses are already booked for Carnival Week. A large number of Masonic brethren are expected by the s.s. Tangaroa to-morrow to attend the opening of the Masonic Lodge here! Bush fires have made their near presence - ljnown in Wairoa bv the clouds of smoke which prevade the atmosphere, rendering it dull and heavy.
