CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 4

Thomas .Alargetts, d 9 years of age. a builder and joiner, residing at IGU Aloorhouse Avenue, commiitecl suicide yesterday by shooting himself, tt appears that a'bont 4 p.m. lie left his' house and did not return, ancl about ,5.40 this morning liis wife found him lying dead in the workship. Sho sent for Dr. Talbot, who, on arrival, pronounced life extinct. A five-chambered revolver was found lying alongside the body. Apparently Alargetts placed the revolver inside his shirt before he pulled the trigger, a s there were no bullet holes iu'-the garment. An inquest was held at tho morgue this afternoon by Air H. AV. Bishop, district coroner. After heariiui the evidence of Airs Alargetts and Sergt. Keep, the coroner recorded a- verdict that deceased committed suicide, but that there was no evidence to show his state of mind at the time.

NAPIER, Jan. 4

Joseph Wooster, aged about GO, employed .as night porter at the Caledonian hotel, Napier, committed suicide early yesterday" morning, lie was found about 6.G0 a.m. in one ot tho armchairs in the sitting-room, quite dead, with a bullet wound in his forehead. He was holding.*! revolver in his right- hand, and a cigarette ill the other. He was a sober, steady, reliable man. His wife lives at .Blenheim. There is no family.

. Later. An inquest was held to-dav on the death of a- man named Wooster, who shot, himself in the Caledonian Hotel on Sunday morning. The coroner. Air IT AY. Brabant, returned a verdict to the effect that the deceased died from a wound self-inflicted.
