. 'WELLINGTON, Jam 4. A messenger employed in the t<o.vermnent. Buildings had £4O stoion from him in the Bank of New Zealand to-dav. He had been sent to the bank'to cash some cheques' lor gain, which '-was placed in two bags. »\ H<counting .the gold in one bag, be the other by his side, and on looking up again discovered the bag was ..missing.
