INVERCARGILL, Jan. 4. The Caledonian sports were concluded on Friday in unsatisfactory iveather.. The attendance, however, was good,' and £2OO was taken at the gates, which, with £3OO on the first day, will make the meeting a financial success, though the prize money totalled £350. The big event, the Caledonian Handicap, was won by Baird, a local runner. - McLachlan competed at the meeting, hut was obviously out of form, and won nothing but the Consolation Handicap.

Tho following championship medals have been awarded in connection with the Caledonian Society’s- sports:— Piper: A. S. Duncan, 18 points; Dancer, R. McKechnie, 33 points; Runner : R. D. Chalmers, 13 points; Hammer, Caber and Ball throwing: F. Forde, 18 points; Wrestler (Border and Catch-as~Gatch-Can): M. Forde, 9 points. The Governor’s medal for the best all round athlete was won by F. •Forde, 25 points. The Premier’s medal was won by J. Kendall, winner in the wood-chopping competition. The Hon. J. A. Millar’s medal was won by R. D. Chalmers, who secured most points in handicap running. WALKER BREAKS A RECORD. United Press Association, Copyright PRETORIA, Jan. 3.
