A new Ministry has been formed, Avith Mr. Murray as Premier, Chief Secretary, and Labor; Mr. Watt, Treasurer; Mr. Mcßride, Mines; Mr. Billson, Education; Mr Graham, Agriculture and Railways; Mr. McKenzie, Lands and Water Supply; Mr. Ballieu, Works; Mr Drysdale BroAvn, At-torney-General ; Messrs Thompson and Cameron, Honorary Ministers. In connection Avith the election of the Speaker, Messrs F. Madden-and W. D. Beazley Avere proposed. Some Labor members objected to Mr. Beazley getting the appointment. They declared that important times Avere \ coming, and Labor Avould need bis ?. A'ote, and every A'ote they could mus- | tor. The Labor leader appealed to ; his colleagues to A'ote for Mr. Beaz- ] ley. When a division Avas taken nine ‘ Laborites left the Chamber. Mr. Madden was elected by 38 to 16. A Supply Bill Avas passed, and the House adjourned until February 9th. Mr McKenzie, Minister for Lands, visits NeAV Zealand to study land legislation, especially in regard to taxation and compulsory purchases. NEW SOUTH WALES FINANCE. ISSUE OF TREASURY BILLS. LONDON, Jan. 7. About £75,000 of the New South Wales half-yqar Treasury Bills have been placed on the London market at about 2-2- per cent discount.' SYDNEY, Jan. 8. In reference to the Treasury bills the Treasurer explains that a loan of LI,-750,000 matured in London on January Ist. The Government, not having sufficient cash in London, temporary arrangements Avero made Avitii the London and Westminster Bank for tho balance, £75,000. The Government were offering short-dated bills to cover this overdraft.
