BARRIER MINE BESIEGED. MINERS CONFIDENT OF VICTORY. United Press Association Copyright SYDNEY, Jan. 8. The Labor Council has decided to issxie a circular appealing for til© immediate help of all unions in the Avay of financial support to the Barrier miners. The point taken is that the adoption of the resolution Avas a defiance of tho law.
1 Some speakers urged that the miners should seize the chance of defying such a IaAV. Yesterday was a quiet day on tho Barrier. The pickets, acting on the advice of their leaders, show greater caution. The siege of the Proprietary is closely maintained. The men are very determined, and confident of victory.
A train arrived early this morning Avith one hundred additional police. There was no demonstration.
A meeting of the Proprietary directors discussed the question of submitting tho dispute to the Arbitration Court. Subsequently it Avas announced that communications had been sent to tho President of the Court. The nature of the contents was not disclosed . The directors also decided to offer a reward of £SOO for information leading to the conviction of the persons who attacked the members of the 'mining staff and local office. ANOTHER OUTRAGE. A WATER MAIN DYNAMITED. (ReccNed Jan. 9, 12.15 a.m.) SYDNEY,«Jan. 8. The Avater main at the Proprietary mine has been dynamited. The pipes, hoAvever, had not been an use for many years.
