THE CABINET CHANGES.

MR MASSEY’S VIEWS

(Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, Jan. 8

Mr Massey, interviewed tills afternoon with regard to the Cabinet changes, remarked: “I am veiy strongly of opinion that the. wrong thing is being done in increasing the number of Ministers, and in support of that opinion, I may say that since tho end of last session Ministers have been able to give most of their time 1 o electioneering instead of ooking after tho business of their Departments. Besides, in proportion to the number of members m the House or Representatives there are t-oo many of what may ho called oftcal votes. Now nine Ministers and two whips, eleven votes altogether, to start with on everv question, whether right or wrong? is too much of an advantage He ridiculed the suggestion that Mr Carroll was so overworked as to re quire Mr Ngata’s assistance.
