PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
[Press Association.]
AUCKLAND, Jan. S
The Rev. Mr Olphert. of Tima-ru, the retiring president of the Priniitime Methodist Conference, in his annual address, referred to the splendid victories gained at the no-license poll. He pleaded for more aggressive eft'orts in mission work in towns. He suggested that the whole work, in cities be placed on a more attractive and broader basis. It was very evident that the question of the hour was the social and economic condition of the people. Great unrest possessed the industrial world. Great changes were impending. If these were not directed by the Church, lie feared thv would run on anti-Chris-tian lines. The Congress pissed a resolution sympathising with Italy in the earthquake.
