Owners and'trainers are reminded that nominations close with the secretary (Mr. D. R. De Costa) at the Masonic Hotel at 9.30 to-night for the following events at the Poverty Bay' Turf Club’s annual meeting, to be held on the Makar aka racecourse on February lltli and- 12th: —First County Stakes, of 60 sovs, 6 furlongs; Turanga Stakes Handicap, of 200 sovs, 1-J miles; First. Hurdles Handicap, ol : 60 -sovs, 11 miles; Second Hurdles Handicap, of 60 sovs, 1) miles; Flying Handicap, of 8-3sovs, 6 furlongs ; Stewards’ Handicap, of 80 sovs, 7 furlongs ; Sunderland Stakes Handicap, of 150 sovs, 1 mile; Publicans’ Purse Handicap, of 75 sovs, s'furlongs. . It is anticipated that these events will be largely nominated for, as the stakes are the largest ever given by any racing club in Gisborne. TOKOMARU MAORI CLUB. The Tokomaru Maori Racing Club are holding their annual meeting on Saturday, January 23rd. The programme has been issued, and entries are due for the Marotiri Flying Handicap and the Hautaketake Cup on Friday, January 22nd. All other entries are to be made on the ground.
