George Towns states that Barry will not conic out to the colonies this year, but that he may do so next year. He expects a boom in rowing in England during the coining season.
NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP
Fogwell bus fixed up to row Wlielch for the championship of New Zealand at Akaroa on Easter Monday for £2OO aside. The title has become vacant since Webb’s defeat by Arnst, as the latter is not claiming it, so it will be contested by the Akaroa man and the Sydncy-sider. There have never been any definite rules for the government of this fixture hitherto. This is to he amended by Messrs. Wlielch and Fogwell, who are engaged., on framing rules for the New Zealand Sculling Championship, drafted on the same lines as, those under which the Australian championship is rowed.
The editor of the “Akaroa Mail” has been appointed stake-holder in connection with tho race.. It is the intention of Messrs. Arnst. Fogwell and Floyd to immediately undertake >i bicycle tour of the North Island, which will include a visit to Rotorua, where Fogwell wishes to take a course of mineral baths.
