In one event, owing to a certain direction in which the betting was going, the stewards put up their own instead of the owner’s rider on a horse neglected by backers. [The racehorse Noctiuform, a son of tile well-known Multiform, was bred by the late Air. G. G. Stood. He 'had a successful career on the turf in New Zealand and Australia, winning tlio New Zealand Cup and other important races. He wtis sold for 1 a large sum about two years ago and sent to England, where he achieved very little success.]
