The Earl of Crewe denies the accuracy of Sir Daniel O’Connor’s statement cabled on November 21st. ''"He states that it does not represent his opinions. - [The cable of November 21st was to the effect that the Earl of .Crewe, in an interview with Sir Daniel O’Connor, of Sydney, expressed surprise: that Australia lagged behind Canada, South'Africa, and New Zealand in encouraging immigration. He had pleaded for the appointment of a High Commissioner for the Commonwealth, and more than once urged-it-The early selection of well-informed representatives would be highly, useful to the Colonial Office and highly beneficial to tlio Commonwealth.]
