PRODUCE SALES. Messrs Malcolm and Co. report a busy day at their Mart on Saturday. Pullets and cockerels brought from 6d to 2s each., hens Is 6d to 2s 9d, roosters Is 9d to 2s 9d, eggs Is, butter I.od and lid, cabbages Is to 2s dozen, cauliflowers 2s to 4s, peas lOd, beans 8(1, rhubarb 4s dozen bundles, spring onions 2s dozen bundles, turnips Is dozen do., local and imported onions lcl to ljd lb, potatoes 7s to 10s cwt (large quantity of local potatoes coming in), peaches 3d lb, apricots 3d lb, lemons 5d and 6d dozen, apples 2s to 4s 6d ease. Sale of furniture and boots followed, keeping the auctioneer busy till past 4 o’clock. HORSE SALES. Messrs. Williams land Kettle, Ltd., yarded about 30 horses of various descriptions at their weekly sale on Saturday. There was a small attendance of buyers and few lots were sold. Hacks brought from £4 to £B, one .good class hack realising £ls. Tlic half-draughts advertised for salo were passed in, the highest bid (£2O) not reaching the reserve. The racehorse Convoy, an old New Zealand Cup winner and winner of other races of a total value of over £3OOO, was offered and knocked down at £27, but.owing to some dispute, the horse was withdrawn after the fall of the hammer.
