WIGAN DEFEAT LEAGUERS

LONDON, Jan. 10. The Wallabies by three tries to one defeated England. The ground was in splendid condition, and the game very fast. There were n airly 20,000 spectators. The Wallabies practically put their best- team in the field. Moran was absent owing to lameness. A sensational start wus made, Mobbs, of Leicester, scoring a brilliant try in the first minute. Row obtained a lucky try twenty minutes later, Bui! screwing away from the English threequarters who were trying to touch down. The scores were level at halftime. Play wins exciting in the second half. Russell scored a try by following up a -high punt. Russell gained another brilliant try in the last .minute after a splendid rush bv the three-quarters. The victory was due chiefly to the splendid scrum work by tiie forwards, who almost invariably secured the ball, giving their outsiders many fine openings. Wigan, 2 goals 2 tries, defeated lbe Australian ■ Leaguers, 2 goals 1 try. In the first half Messenger early kicked a penalty goal, and converted a try-by Walsh; Wigan scoring an unconverted try. In the second half Wigan added a goal from a try and a penalty goal.
