LONDON, Jan. 8. Commenting on Sir Joseph Ward’s difficulty in Cabinet-making, a London journal states that, the majority is ample for aJI practical purposes, and if it can be maintained, the Liberal prospects remain bright. The conciliatory and more moderate elements. in pursuance of Sir Joseph Ward’s advice to favor a period of repose, after the somewheat feverish, legislative activity. of the last few years, may result in a working majority for years to come.

The Gisborne Trades Council on Saturday night adopted a resolution congratulating Sir Joseph. Ward on bis choice in the selection of the new Cabinet, and washing the new Government every success. It was also resolved that congratulations, be sent to the Hon.'A. W. Hogg on his elevation to Cabinet rank.
