Tin* ground was heavy for tbe Clifton and Bristol match. In the first half play was even. Gavin obtained an unconverted try. In tin* second half Hickey and McGable scored tries, and the latter was converted. Bristol scored a try. A. RUGBY UNION DIFFICULTY. LONDON, Jam 13. . The Scottish Rugby Union cancelled the fixture avith England because the English Union, sanctioned payments to the All Blanks and Wallabies of a guinea n week besides expenses. The Scottish committee unanimously opine that these payments are contrary to the principles of amateur football, and amount to professionalism. The Scottish Union complains that tlio Anglo-Wels*h team received a daily allowance.
