THE AMATEUR DEADLOCK

DUNEDIN, Jan. 14. At a meeting of tho Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-night, a letter ay as received from the secretary of tlio Christchurch Council 'asking for an immediate reply to an offer to allot the championship meeting to Dunodin. Tbe letter “was recencd without discussion. WANGANUI CALEDONIAN SOCIETY disqualified. [Presb Association.] INVERCARGILL, Jan. 14. The Executive of the New Zealand Athletic Association decided by a large majority to declare tbe Wanganui Caledonian Society’s meeting an unregistered meeting, and. t-n disqualify all competitors thereat. The members of the union state that they have considered all means of conciliation, and used fruitlessly the best endeavors to arrive at an amicable settlement. The New Zealand Sports Federation will be asked to endorse the disqualification, and those disqualified will not be permitted to take part in any class of sport- affiliated to tlio Federation. The dispute arose out of the disqualification of a director of the Wanganui Society Avho competed at the Christchurch Scottish Society's gathering at tho exhibition.
