FIRE AT ORMOND.
SIX-ROOAIED HOUSE DESTROYED
Shortly before 10.30 p.m. in Saturday night both firebells rang out an alarm, and a lurid glare was observable in the sky in the direction of Ormond, and it was eventually discovered that the outbreak was in a sixroomed house at Ormond occupied by Air. P. Mortensen and family. The cause of the fire was purely acicdontal, as one of the children had left a lighted candle in one of the rooms, and was engaged in watching the arrival of the up-train to Pulia when the naked light caught- some light inflammable material, and- tlio room and building were rapidly enveloped in- flames. Tlie fire -gained a strong hold immediately 7, and little or nothing of any 7 value was saved. Although both building and contents were insured, it is stated that Air. Alortensen will be a loser t<? tho extent of about £l5O.
