MELBOURNE, Jan. 18. The. dissension among members of the French Society, Alliance Jiancaise, has led to the recall ol M. Maistre, the Consul, by the French Foreign Office, in consequence of representations made through the British Ambassador in that both the Australian- authorities and the British Ambassador were misAaled into conveying to the French Foreign Office representations which culminated in M. Maistre’s recall.
