LONDON, Jan. 19. In connection with the ship-owners’
proposal, a-tentative scheme to lay op
tonnage annually for two consecutive - periods of a month each, because Lloyds’ and insurance companies calculate rebates only after a ship is out of commission a month, was received from Cardiff, Liverpool and other places, though the proposal did not evoke much 'enthusiasm on the
Clyde. [A hundred North-east Coast shipowners met at Newcastle-on-Tyne last week, and deckled to form an international combination to regulate the supply of tonnage according to the demand.]
