THE NEW PRESIDENT’S SALARY
PROPOSED MISSION TO LIBERIA

Tho Senate fixed the salary for Mr. Taft, President-elect, including travelling expenses, at 100,000 dollars (£20,000), an increase of 25,000 dollars on the salary of President Roosevelt.
Mr. Elihu Root is asking the Senate for authority to send three commissioners to Liberia to assist in strengthening the Government. DISPOSAL OF PUBLIC LANDS. GIGANTIC J- BAUDS. LONDON, Jan. 20. The New York correspondent of the “Times” says that Senator Garficlu reports to Congress frauds in the disposal of public lands worth 100,000,000 dollars. _____
